Cold Lake has long been a favorite holiday spot for Albertans, and is also home to Canada's largest military airbase. What is less well-known is that this city is at the centre of some Canada's largest oil reserves. As those reserves are tapped, the city is facing a severe shortage of quality housing. Edgeworth Properties Inc. is proud to to introduce Deer Meadow Estates as part of the solution.
The oil numbers are impressive: over 20 billion barrels, over 1,000 wells and major investments from oil giants such as Imperial Oil and Shell. However, there is more to this economy than oil. The airbase is a key training centre for NATO and many other countries, and is home to more than 2,000 personnel. Tourism supports a large portion of the local economy, and will continue to grow as more facilities are built. Cold Lake is also a regional hub serving the surrounding region and its grwing population which is currently 50,000.

The rapid growth of the city and the surrounding area has resulted in major developments in both infrastructure and services. With the population facing a 25% growth over the next decade, the local and provincial governments are contributing to the area's already excellent road system. Over the next year, more than $60 million will be spent on new education and sports facilities, with another $200 million promised for the basic city infrastructure.
